Shell Point Tribby Arts Center

Shell Point is a 700-acre full service, resort style continuing care retirement community offering six neighborhoods and more than 50 floorplans to accommodate retirees throughout their retirement experience.  A recent addition to Shell Point’s wide array of community attractions is the $25 million, 44,000 sq. ft. Tribby Arts Center.  The two-story building has a 350-seat state-of-the-art theater, a atrium gallery entry, an art gallery, several art and music studios and practice rooms.


Siebein Associates provided comprehensive acoustical consulting for the entire building including a design charette with stakeholders; room acoustics design for acoustical finishes in the main theater and stage space, lobby/atrium, dance and theater arts studio, music ensemble practice suite, individual music practice rooms and several other spaces in the building.  Siebein Associates developed acoustical design recommendations for size, shape and strategic location of sound absorbing and diffusing finishes for each space for optimized acoustical performance.


Our consultants developed sound isolation criteria for construction assemblies for the building and acoustical design recommendations for MEP sound control for the air handling units serving the main theater and stage space, Lobby/Atrium, Dance and Theater Arts Studio, Music Ensemble Practice Suite, two Individual Music Practice Rooms, Instrument Room, including computer models of sound attenuation required for duct borne noise, airborne noise and vibration produced by HVAC system components and recommendations for silencers, duct linings and other attenuation measures to meet the design criteria.
