The high energy impulsive noises associated with firearms discharge and law enforcement and military training requires special equipment to measure and special techniques to diagnose and design with. Our firm has developed these over a 25 year period to become the specialists in this area. Work for federal law enforcement agencies including the FBI, Capitol Police and Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers as well as various branches of the military and the National Rifle Association has solidified our position in the field. We have developed unique methods to assess occupational noise exposure of officers to firearms noise while they are actually training. We have pioneered the development of acoustical measurement systems that allows one to document how each surface of an indoor training facility contributes to the loudness of sounds heard at the firing line to optimize the use of acoustic finishes in these buildings. We have also used computer and physical modeling methods to diagnose and remediate problems.
